Winter Fairy Tale of Azerbaijan
Golden lights over the Caspian, snow-capped peaks above the clouds, bonfires of the coming spring. Five chapters of one winter — and a private car with a driver to take you through every one of them.
The road of the tale
- Bakuairport · hotel
- Khizistriped mountains

- Shahdag≈ 212 km · 3–3.5 h
- Gabala · Tufandag≈ 220 km · 3–3.5 h
City of Lights
On New Year's night Baku turns into a jewellery box. The three Flame Towers above the bay burst into living fire, the boulevard by the Caspian glitters with garlands, and in the Old City lanterns glow on the stones of the fortress walls.
You walk where East meets Europe — and even the wind from the sea feels festive. The driver waits nearby: no searching for a car on the busiest night of the year.
- Flame Towers lit up above the bay
- Seaside Boulevard along the Caspian
- Icherisheher — the Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site
- Holidays: 31 December, 1 and 2 January. Days off are expected 31.12.2026 – 04.01.2027 (the Cabinet of Ministers approves the final schedule).
- A car with a driver for the evening of the 31st — book early: it is the busiest night of the year.

The Road to the Mountains
In the morning the driver is already at your hotel door. The road runs north along the Caspian, and near Khizi the hills suddenly turn striped — red, white and ochre layers, as if someone spilled paint across the slopes.
Then come Quba and the foothills of the Greater Caucasus, where the snow begins right at the roadside and every turn opens a new white valley.
- Pick-up at your hotel at the agreed time
- Khizi and its striped mountains
- Quba and the foothills of the Caucasus
- Stops for coffee and photos — agree them when booking
- Baku → Shahdag ≈ 212 km, Baku → Gabala ≈ 220 km: 3–3.5 hours each.
- The last 25 km to Shahdag are a mountain road with gradients up to 8%. In winter this is a road for an experienced driver, not for a rental car.
- Skis and snowboards: tell us when booking — we will choose a car with enough space.

The Snow Kingdom of Shahdag
Here the clouds lie below you like a soft white sea, and above them shine the peaks of the Greater Caucasus. Lifts carry you up to 2,552 metres, and the slopes run down through silence and sparkling snow.
Shahdag is the largest ski resort in Azerbaijan — a kingdom for a whole week: from gentle green runs for the first day on skis to black ones for those who come for speed.
- Gondolas, chairlifts, drag lifts and travelators
- Hotels: Shahdag Hotel & Spa, Pik Palace, Park Chalet, Zirve, Gaya
- Not only skiing: snowmobiles, tubing, an ice rink, a zipline, Shahdag Coaster
- The resort has not announced the 2026/27 opening dates yet.
- A day ski pass cost 65–85 AZN in the 2023/24 season; check 2026/27 prices with the resort.
- Ski rental at the resort is from 55 AZN a day, in Quba it is cheaper (from 30 AZN).
- In January it can be −20 °C: your insurance should cover winter sports.

Tufandag, the Cloud Summit
Right next to Gabala a cable car lifts you over a snowy forest, higher and higher, until the whole Caucasus opens up beneath a deep blue sky. At the top the air rings with frost and the trees stand like silver lace.
Tufandag is a compact resort for one or two days — easy to combine with Gabala itself and with Nohur Lake nearby.
- Gondolas and chairlifts with views of the Caucasus
- A ski school for beginners
- Hotels at the resort and in Gabala, 4 km away
- Nohur Lake near Gabala
- Shahdag or Tufandag? Shahdag has more runs and hotels — for a week. Tufandag is next to Gabala — for 1–2 days or together with sightseeing.
- The Gabala day tour is 10 hours: the car waits for you all day.

Spring Comes with Fire
Winter leaves, and Azerbaijan sees it off with fire. For four Tuesdays — Water, Fire, Earth and Wind — bonfires burn in the yards, and on the last one people jump over the flames for luck.
On the tables there is green semeni, a khoncha tray full of sweets, painted eggs, shekerbura, pakhlava and gogal. Novruz 2027 falls on the spring equinox, 20 March, and the Old City of Baku turns into one big celebration.
- Bonfires, and jumping over the fire on the last Tuesday
- Semeni, khoncha, painted eggs
- Shekerbura, pakhlava, gogal
- Celebrations in Icherisheher, the Old City
- The 2027 holiday schedule is approved by the Cabinet of Ministers; the dates above are preliminary.
- Holiday trips: Sheki, Gabala, Quba — and spring skiing at Shahdag, where the season lasts until early April.
How it works
Only you and your company: no shared rides. Sedan, minivan or a minibus for 8, 16 or 20 seats for groups.
The driver tracks your flight and meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign. 60 minutes of waiting are free.
A 5-seat minivan takes up to 5 suitcases. Tell us about skis and snowboards — we will pick the right car.
One chat for everything: booking, changes, the driver's contact on the day of the trip.
30% online by card (Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay), the rest to the driver in USD, AZN, EUR or by card. Or 100% online.
Free of charge up to 24 hours before pick-up.
Choose your route
Each card opens a page with the exact price and a booking form. Combine them as you like: airport — Baku — mountains — back.
Prices are per car in USD, not per person. On some holiday dates a holiday rate applies — the booking form shows it before you send the request.

Excellent service! We originally booked a smaller car and didn’t realize all our luggage wouldn’t fit. Before the trip, the company contacted us to confirm our baggage and kindly upgraded us to a larger vehicle at no extra charge. The driver was very polite, drove carefully, helped us with all our luggage, and chose the most convenient drop-off point at the airport. The car was new, spacious, and spotlessly clean.Polina G. · July 2026

Great experience. I had a massive delay and they still did not charge me extra and were understanding. The driver they sent, Malik, was very good and I can’t praise him enough!! Highly recommend.D. S. · July 2026
