Azerbaijan marks Victory Day on 8 November and National Flag Day on 9 November. In 2026 Victory Day falls on a Sunday, so under the official 2026 work calendar Tuesday 10 November is an extra day off. Together with the weekend this makes four days off in a row: Saturday 7 to Tuesday 10 November.
What it means for travellers
Government offices, banks and many businesses are closed on 9 and 10 November; shops, restaurants, hotels and museums in Baku usually stay open. Many residents travel to the regions, so roads to Gabala, Sheki, Quba and Shahdag are busier, and hotels outside Baku fill up early. Celebrations take place in Baku and in Shusha and other Karabakh cities.
Trip ideas for the long weekend
Popular choices are a day tour to Gabala or Sheki, the mountains of Quba and Shahdag, or a visit to Shusha. If you plan to travel, book your car and hotel in advance.
Transfers and tours with 4T
4T Transfer works every day of the holidays: airport transfers, private day tours and cars with driver at the usual fixed prices per car.
