Qakh

Qakh is a green mountain district in north-western Azerbaijan, next to Sheki and close to the border with Georgia. Forests, rivers and old stone villages make it one of the most beautiful corners of the country.

The highlight is the village of Ilisu with its historic stone houses, the Sumug fortress tower and waterfalls in the gorge above the village, inside the Ilisu State Reserve. In the town of Qakh you can see the old wooden gates and balconies, and nearby the ruins of the ancient Kurmukhi church.

Getting there with 4T Transfer

The drive from Baku takes about 5.5 hours. Qakh fits perfectly into a 2–3 day trip together with Sheki and Gabala with your own car and driver. Prices on request.

Best time to visit

May to October. Autumn colours in the Ilisu gorge are spectacular in October.
