Ismayilli & Lahij
Lahij is a centuries-old mountain village in the Ismayilli district, famous for its coppersmiths. Its cobbled streets, stone houses and small workshops look much as they did hundreds of years ago.
The road to Lahij runs through the dramatic Girdimanchay river canyon. In the Ismayilli district you can also visit Ivanovka, a village founded by Russian Molokans, local wineries and Basqal, known for its silk kelaghayi scarves — part of UNESCO's intangible heritage.
Getting there with 4T Transfer
Lahij is about 3–3.5 hours from Baku; the last part is a narrow mountain road. It combines well with Shamakhi on a day trip or with Gabala over two days. Prices on request.
Best time to visit
May to October. In winter and after heavy rain the canyon road can be difficult.
