Exhibition

The 6th Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition ran together with the 15th Securex Caspian show for security, safety and rescue equipment. Both were organised by the Ministry of Defence Industry with Caspian Event Organisers at Baku Expo Center. These are trade shows for official delegations and industry professionals, not public events.

Azerbaijan's national team played its first home game of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League (League D) at the historic Tofiq Bahramov stadium in central Baku. The match ended 0–0. The stadium is named after the Soviet linesman famous for the 1966 World Cup final.

Harvest Season in Gabala

Harvest Season in Gabala
Regional festival

Harvest Season is a month-long food programme in Gabala. More than 20 local restaurants and farm producers serve seasonal dishes and farm-to-table menus. It is a good reason to visit Gabala in autumn, when the foothills of the Greater Caucasus change colour.

Festival

The first weekend of GastroFest brought chefs, street food, craft stalls and DJ sets to Baku's walled Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The festival ran at the Double Gates and was free to walk around. The second weekend is 10–11 October.

UEFA Nations League: Azerbaijan vs Lithuania

Football

Azerbaijan's second home game of the Nations League autumn window was played in Ganja, the country's second city, at the recently renovated city stadium. Ganja is a good stop on a road trip west from Baku: it has Nizami's mausoleum and Khan's Garden, and Goygol lake is nearby.

World Judo Championships 2026

Sport

Baku is hosting the senior World Judo Championships for the second time after 2018. According to the IJF, about 644 athletes from 96 countries compete in 14 Olympic weight categories from 4 to 10 October, with the mixed team event on 11 October. Judo is one of Azerbaijan's strongest sports, so the home crowd is loud.

Festival

On the second and final weekend of GastroFest, chefs, street food, handicraft stalls and live DJ sets are in Baku's Old City again. It is an easy addition to a walk past the Maiden Tower and the Shirvanshahs' Palace.

Azerbaijani champions Sabah, in the Champions League league phase for the first time, play their first home match against Slavia Praha at Baku Olympic Stadium. The 68,000-seat stadium hosted the 2019 Europa League final and Euro 2020 games. Expect travelling Czech fans in the city.

Exhibition

The 31st BakuBuild runs alongside Aquatherm Baku, Rebuild Karabakh, Plastex Caspian and Road & Traffic. Together they make up the region's largest construction and infrastructure trade week. The programme includes panels on Karabakh reconstruction and urban planning, with Azerbaijani–English interpretation.

The 20th IEEE International Conference on Application of Information and Communication Technologies brings researchers and engineers to the ADA University campus. The programme has keynotes, tutorials and paper sessions in 12 tracks, from data science to healthcare IT. This is a specialist event for academics and IT professionals.

Sabah's second home game in the Champions League league phase is against Borussia Dortmund at Baku Olympic Stadium. Dortmund lists the match for Tuesday 20 October at 18:45 CEST, which is 20:45 in Baku. A large group of German fans is likely to travel.

This is the first edition of FIFA's new youth tournament. About 3,000 under-15 players from some 190 member associations play roughly 950 eight-a-side matches over a week. Most games are at the Hovsan complex; the opening match and the finals on 30 October are at Baku Crystal Hall.

Conference

This is the main gathering of the "Baku Process", which marks its 15th anniversary this year. The Ministry of Culture hosts it with UNESCO, UNAOC, ICESCO and UN Tourism. Ministers, heads of international organisations, religious leaders and experts meet to discuss intercultural cooperation.

Culture

The second Baku International Arts Festival has more than 20 theatre, dance and music events across city venues. In October, Lev Dodin's "The Seagull" (Maly Drama Theatre, St Petersburg) plays on 29–30 October at the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theatre. November brings English National Ballet, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo and violinist David Garrett.

Culture

The second edition of this contemporary art weekend is organised by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA. It fills the Heydar Aliyev Center, the National Museum of Art, the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and galleries in the Old City with exhibitions, talks and lectures. Artists include Michelangelo Pistoletto, Judy Chicago and Zhang Ji, and the central theme is the "Big Five" animals of the Caucasus.
